Lindsay (Amos) Weaver
About Mrs. Weaver I was born and raised in Bentonville, Arkansas. I graduated from the University of Arkansas with both a Bachelors in History with a minor in Business as well as a Masters of Art in Secondary Education with a social studies concentration. I am currently seeking my Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction at Kennesaw State University. My proudest professional accomplishment to date, was presenting at the National Council for the Social Studies conference in Chicago, Illinois in December 2018. |
Teaching Philosophy
There are many aspects to teaching that I feel very passionate about. First, I present all my curriculum with a multicultural education approach. Per the glossary of education reform, “multicultural education is predicated on the principle of educational equity for all students, regardless of culture, and it strives to remove barriers to educational opportunities and success for students from different cultural backgrounds.” I believe that all students have a unique experience to bring to the classroom, and it is my role as their teachers to allow them the opportunity to share. Second, I believe in the used of formative data. Many people believe formative data to be a “ quiz” that goes into the grade book. I use formative data as an assessment for learning, meaning I am assessing to see what students have mastered to this point. Then I modify my teaching to meet their needs at this point in learning. You will see this noted under “progress monitoring” in infinite campus. Lastly, I believe in the social and emotional learning of students. “Social and emotional learning (SEL) provides a foundation for safe and positive learning, and enhances students' ability to succeed in school, careers, and life” (Edutopia, 2016). With all three of these aspects working in conjunction, I hope to have a wonderful and impactful school year.
